Recommended Website of the Month

© GO2WEB2.0 2008

Not so much a website, but a rather large and useful portal to everything that's in vogue in Web2.0, how long before be start talking about Web2.1 or Web3.0 I wonder? I'd be willing to put down a few of my ill-earned pennies on the idea that it won't be too long before it becomes commonplace on the olde Tinterweb - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_3
Infact after a brief sniff about the WWW it's more than obvious that some websites are thinking further than Web3.0, moving onto 4,5,6,7,8, so on and so forth. The credibility of these sites or posts that make such references are open to debate.
Go2Web2.0 will probably keep you busy for hours by browsing, but there's a facility to filter items by their tags. Just choosing the tag 'knowledge' brings up about 30 websites, and quite frankly there's not enough hours in the day to go through them all properly. The best advice is go and play and see what works best for you.

New staff member

Hi, my name is Louise Guillaume and I am the new Public Health Information Officer. I started work in Information Resources at the start of May. I previously worked in the Section of Public Health within ScHARR and before that in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and also studied at Sheffield for my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, so as you can tell, am very happy living in Sheffield!

I will primarily be working to provide information support to the Public Health Collaborating Centre at the University of Sheffield, but will be getting involved in all the work that the section does.

Everyone has made me feel very welcome since I started here and I look forward to meeting more people as I start working on the enquiry desk next week. Once I have a new photo of myself I will add it to the blog, until then you will have to put up with a picture of a stephanotis plant, like Angie and I have in our office.

There's not much to say about this month's oddity of oddities, apart from every library should have one.
